Summary

  • As a Product Owner, you provide functional leadership for Jumbo’s AI platform, driving vision, value, and adoption across the organization.
  • We are building an AI platform from scratch that serves as the foundation for AI applications and intelligent agents that perform real work in our operations, for our customers, and across our supply chain.
  • You will join the AI Platform team within the Store Technology, Data & AI department. The team consists of an Engineering Lead, a Tech Lead, Platform Engineers, and you as Product Owner.
  • You collaborate with product teams, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, including teams such as agentic commerce and AI champions across different domains.

Job description

As Product Owner AI Platform, you are responsible for the vision, direction, and adoption of Jumbo’s AI platform. You will work in a greenfield environment, within a team that already has direction and structure, with plenty of room to make decisions and create impact.

Get started! This is what you will do
You take functional ownership of the platform as a product and translate strategy and use cases into concrete product decisions and a clear roadmap. Together with the Engineering Lead, Tech Lead, and Platform Engineers, you build a scalable platform on which teams develop AI applications and operational agents that deliver value across the organization.

You work closely with product teams, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, translating their needs into generic and reusable platform capabilities. This enables teams to build quickly and securely without repeatedly solving the underlying infrastructure.

You actively drive adoption, collaborate closely with teams building on the platform, and continuously translate feedback into improvements. This is not a theoretical roadmap — AI solutions are already being developed with real use cases and deadlines, with your platform forming the foundation for scaling AI across Jumbo.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate the product vision for the AI platform.
  • Provide functional leadership for platform development and guide roadmap and priorities.
  • Prioritize the backlog based on business value, risk, feasibility, and adoption.
  • Collaborate closely with technology and business stakeholders.
  • Translate use cases into generic platform capabilities.
  • Drive adoption across teams.
  • Own platform capabilities end-to-end.
  • Ensure reusability, standardization, and scalability.
  • Safeguard reliability, performance, and security.
  • Maintain a strong balance between innovation, speed, and cost.

Together we are Jumbo: This is where you will work

You will be part of the AI Platform team within the Store Technology, Data & AI department. The team consists of an Engineering Lead, a Tech Lead, a Product Owner, and Platform Engineers. The team operates within a broader Platform group alongside Data, ML, Developer, and Integration platform teams. Your key stakeholders are the product teams that build on what you deliver. You will work at the intersection of technology and business, playing a direct role in how AI is developed, applied, and scaled within Jumbo.

Profile

  • Demonstrated ability to operate at an academic level.
  • Experience as a Product Owner in an IT, data, or platform environment.
  • Experience building or evolving platforms (e.g. data, AI, or cloud platforms).
  • Affinity with AI, data, and cloud-native environments.
  • Strong ability to translate strategy and use cases into concrete product decisions and roadmaps.
  • Experience managing stakeholders in a complex organization.
  • Able to switch easily between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Decisive and strong in making and explaining choices.
  • Strong sense of ownership and the confidence to challenge.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering, platform thinking, and DevOps practices.

We offer

  • A gross salary between €6.000 - €7.700 per month (based on 40 hours).
  • An annual bonus of max 10% of your annual salary, based on organizational goals.
  • 30 days of paid holiday (with the opportunity to buy or sell days of paid holiday) and 8% holiday allowance.
  • You build up a pension through participation in the Pension Fund for the Food Industry.
  • A(n) (electric) lease car. We like to work together in the office, but you can also work partly from home.
  • Room for entrepreneurship, growth and development. Not only in your job but also through our Jumbo Academy, online training through GoodHabitz and with a training budget.
  • Daily fresh lunch in our Foodcafé, good coffee and fresh fruit. You can sport daily at our own Jumbo Gym for a small fee.
  • Colleague discounts such as 10% off your groceries (up to €325 per year), participation in our collective health insurance or discounts through Beneftits at Work.
