Job description
Working with and for a smile
Jumbo’s ambition is to be the most loved supermarket in the Netherlands and Belgium. We aim to surprise our customers and exceed expectations so they enjoy shopping with us. With over 700 stores, the option to have groceries delivered via jumbo.com, our own distribution centers, and office colleagues, we work together every day to achieve this ambition. Collaborating to win over the customer is what drives us at Jumbo.
Get started! This is what you'll do
We’re here to inspire our customers—whether they shop online, visit our stores, explore our food markets, or dine in our restaurants. Our mission is to support them at every step of their journey, building lasting loyalty and turning customers into passionate fans. As a Senior Frontend Developer you'll play a key role in Jumbo’s ecommerce and omnichannel ambitions. You will help deliver a sophisticated front-end platform that powers our web and app customer experiences. Within your team, you will take responsibility for the front-end solutions and will actively contribute towards the front-end strategy and wider domain initiatives like the unification of our apps into OneApp. In addition, you will work closely with other engineers and support them with pragmatic solutions to always be able to offer the maximum value to our customers. Of course, with the aim of always coming up with the best data-driven solutions for Jumbo. You will work closely with other teams and like to challenge colleagues to do things just a little bit better.
Together we are Jumbo: This is where you come to work
A lot is happening at Jumbo: no day is the same, we switch quickly and look at how we can do better for our customers and colleagues every day. We encourage you to see opportunities and take initiative on the things that contribute to the goals. With an informal working atmosphere, room for initiative, humor and fun, you work at Jumbo every day with a smile. The typical Agile team will consist of at least one Product Owner, Product Designer, Backend Developers, a Frontend Developer and a QA Engineer. As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will be part of the broader Customer & Assortment department.
Profile
At Jumbo, we are looking for go-getters, people with good ideas and the courage to work together on them. We care for each other: our customers, colleagues, and the world around us, and we want to do a little better every day. All our (future) colleagues bring a healthy dose of Jumbo DNA with them, and so do you! Additionally, you also have:
At least 8 years of work experience as a Frontend Developer.
Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
Professional experience with a frontend framework such as Vue or Nuxt.
Experience with Git and understanding of GitFlow, unit testing and end-to-end testing.
Core Web Vitals and clean code are part of your DNA.
Experience with cross-team collaborations on shared codebases (web and native apps).
Interest in UX/UI, accessibility, and inclusive design.
We offer
At Jumbo, you’ll find a work environment with warmth, enjoyment, and attention for each other. Where you have plenty of room to contribute to our ambition of becoming the most beloved supermarket. Just as you’re there for our customers, we’re there for you. Additionally, you’ll receive:
- A gross salary between €5.700 - €7.300 per month (based on 40 hours).
- An annual bonus of max 7.5% of your annual salary, based on organizational goals.
- 30 days of paid holiday (with the opportunity to buy or sell days of paid holiday) and 8% holiday allowance.
- You build up a pension through participation in the Pension Fund for the Food Industry.
- An allowance for your travel expenses (€ 0.21 cents per kilometer with a maximum of 35 kilometers one way). We like to work together in the office, but you can also work partly from home.
- Room for entrepreneurship, growth and development. Not only in your job but also through our Jumbo Academy, online training through GoodHabitz and with a training budget.
- Daily fresh lunch in our Foodcafé, good coffee and fresh fruit. You can sport daily at our own Jumbo Gym for a small fee.
- Colleague discounts such as 10% off your groceries (up to €325 per year), participation in our collective health insurance or discounts through Benefits at Work.
