Summary
- As a Data Engineer, you design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions within Azure and Databricks. You develop reliable data pipelines and data ingestion workflows that make data secure, accessible, and usable across the organization. Together with your team, you work on a future-proof data platform that supports data-driven decision-making within Jumbo.
- By making data reliable and accessible, you help Jumbo make smarter and faster decisions. From supply chain optimization to customer insights, your work directly contributes to improving processes, supporting teams, and creating a better shopping experience for our customers.
- You work within the Data Platform team on building and improving Jumbo’s modern cloud data platform. Together with your colleagues, you develop scalable data solutions that enable teams across the organization to work with reliable and high-quality data.
- You work closely with data engineers, platform engineers, analysts, and other specialists. In addition, you collaborate with both data producers and data consumers across the organization to ensure datasets are reliable, accessible, and easy to use.
Job description
Let’s get started – What you’ll do
As a Data Engineer, you contribute to building and improving scalable data solutions within Azure and Databricks. You develop reliable data pipelines and ingestion workflows and ensure data is secure, accessible, and ready for use across the organization.
No two days are the same, but your responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing scalable data ingestion workflows using Python, Delta Lake, and Kubernetes;
- Ingesting data from various sources, including SAP, microservices, and external systems;
- Building and maintaining the data platform within Azure and Databricks;
- Developing high-quality and reusable code in Python, PySpark, and SQL;
- Optimizing data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency;
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including data producers and data consumers;
- Implementing standards for data governance, quality, and security;
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving data pipelines and workflows;
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to best practices within the team.

In addition, you bring:
- A strong foundation in software and data engineering concepts and best practices;
- Excellent Python skills;
- Hands-on experience with Azure and Databricks;
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration on Kubernetes;
- Experience building ETL/ELT workflows;
- Experience building CI/CD workflows for data pipelines;
- Experience monitoring and operating data pipelines;
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
We offer
- A gross monthly salary between €5,900 and €7,600 based on a 40-hour workweek;
- An annual bonus of up to 7.5% of your annual salary based on company objectives;
