As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in realizing Jumbo’s Retail Media ambitions. Retail Media is a rapidly growing domain within Jumbo, and our challenge lies in meeting the increasing demand for advertising campaigns with efficient, scalable solutions. Our goal is to support campaign operations and deliver accurate, clear, and fast campaign data to our advertisers. Data plays a crucial role in this mission—which is why we’re looking for the best Data Engineers.

Let’s get started! What you’ll do
We’re currently building a new team dedicated to delivering campaign results for our advertisers—quickly and accurately. This team was initiated through a business case to realize our Retail Media data ambitions. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll help develop a web interface where advertisers can easily view their campaign results. You’ll work with existing data pipelines and optimize and reinforce them where necessary.

You’ll also design, build, and maintain new pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring that data from the right sources is made reliably and scalably available for analysts, data scientists, and Retail Media products. You’ll work closely with other teams to make data accessible and actionable, directly contributing to data-driven innovation at Jumbo.

The build will begin this year, with a go-live targeted for summer 2026. We have all the necessary data in-house, so we’re not dependent on external parties. After the initial launch, the team will continue working toward further Retail Media ambitions.

The Agile team will consist of at least one Product Owner, two Data Engineers, a Backend Developer, a Frontend Developer, and a QA Engineer. As a Data Engineer, you’ll be part of the broader “Customer & Assortment” department.

In addition, you bring:

• At least 8 years of experience in data and software engineering
• Deep expertise in Power BI, including structuring datasets for performance and governance
• Mastery of DAX and data modeling for reporting purposes
• Strong knowledge of Row-Level Security (RLS) and Power BI roles
• Familiarity with IAM for authentication/authorization
• Strong SQL and data transformation skills (preferably with PySpark or SQL in Databricks, Unity Catalog)
• Experience working with backend teams on embedding and authentication flows
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployments (Power BI Service, DevOps) and the Power BI REST API with token-based embedding strategies
• Experience with Power BI Embedded (nice to have)

You demonstrate ownership and have the ability to lead implementation decisions. You collaborate closely with engineers and data teams. You enjoy mentoring, conducting code reviews, sharing knowledge, and supporting junior team members in their growth.

  A gross salary between € 4.980 - € 6.400 per month (based on 40 hours).
• An annual bonus of max 7.5% of your annual salary, based on organizational goals.
• 30 days of paid holiday (with the opportunity to buy or sell days of paid holiday) and 8% holiday allowance.

• An allowance for your travel expenses (€ 0.21 cents per kilometer with a maximum of 35 kilometers one way). We like to work together in the office, but you can also work partly from home.
